USB cable is not detected when using iMPACT invoked from Active-HDL

Description:

When connecting a demo board using the standalone iMPACT tool, the USB cable is detected. However, when invoking the tool from Active-HDL, the cable is not detected. How can I fix this?

Solution:

Xilinx iMPACT is a 64-bit only tool. In Active-HDL, you need to point to the 64-bit Xilinx ISE, otherwise the 32-bit version will open by default.

  • Go to Tools | Preferences.

  • Under Environment, expand the Flows option and select Integrated Tools

  • In the location field, check and verify that the path is pointed to the 64-bit version (nt64).
