Prototyping

In today's technological drive market, circuit designs are becoming more complex than ever, and time-to-market is quickly decreasing. Prototyping is an essential process in product development since it eliminates high cost of multiple tape-outs, and allows designers to re-configure their designs on hardware platforms which can run at-speed, providing more exhaustive and realistic functional coverage. Aldec provide two prototyping solutions for designers:

 

SoC and ASIC Prototyping

The HES-7 platform allows prototyping of ASIC designs up to 24 million ASIC gates utilizing Xilinx™ Virtex®7 2000T FPGA and allows flexibility and scalability with non-proprietary backplane/daughter board connectors for designs up to 96 million gates. HES-7 also provides support for ARM® dual-core Cortex™-A9 MPCore™ application development, leveraging Xilinx Zynq™ All Programmable SoC, and includes peripherals supporting media interfaces, memories and additional connectors to expand the development of a wide array of SoC applications. Designers can now leverage the serial processing capabilities of the Cortex-A9 processor for applications that require intensive computations and operating systems with the parallel processing capabilities of HES-7 ASIC prototyping platform to create applications across a diverse range of markets.

 

Microsemi™ (Actel) Prototyping
Our RTAX/RTSX prototyping solution provides a reconfigurable platform for Microsemi RTAX-S/SL, RTAX-DSP, and RTSX-SU space-flight design systems. Unlike traditional OTP (One Time Programmable) anti-fuse space-qualified FPGAs, the Aldec prototype adapter utilizes Microsemi™ ProASIC ®3E FPGAs, allowing designers to prototype their design with greater routing flexibility, more switches, lower power consumption, non-volatile re-programmability, and Netlist optimization.
