How do I setup the License variable for Active-HDL CADSTAR Edition Lite (CADSTAR FPGA)

Solution

Active-HDL CADSTAR Edition Lite licenses are issued by Zuken.

The only system variable that is checked by Active-HDL CADSTAR Edition Lite for the license information is LM_LICENSE_FILE. So, please make sure that LM_LICENSE_FILE variable is pointing to a valid nodelocked or floating license. Note that this is different from any other addition of Active-HDL that checks ALDEC_LICENSE_FILE variable in the first place. ALDEC_LICENSE_FILE variable is never checked by Active-HDL CADSTAR Edition Lite, even though this variable is created automatically during the installation process.
