How do I enable ModelSim compatibility mode?

Solution:

To enable the compatibility mode you just need to run your ModelSim script with the -msim switch:

do -msim my_old_script.do

...

The -msim switch turns on the compatibility mode and will tolerate scripts that does not fully follow Active-HDL macro command requirements.
